Jennifer Lawrence States Speaking About Donald Trump Would ‘Worsen the Situation’ That’s Ripping the Nation Apart
Lawrence has expressed that she finds it inappropriate fitting to speak out regarding the Trump administration, fearing it could worsen polarizing arguments and deepen rifts throughout the country.
‘I’m Unsure If It’s Wise’, Notes Lawrence
In a recent interview, the Oscar winner shared, “Back in Trump’s initial term, I thought I was acting frantically in a panicked state. But experience has shown, over multiple voting cycles, Hollywood stars fail to influence in any way on who people vote for.”
The actor went on, “What’s the point? I’m just voicing my thoughts on a matter that’s going to add fuel to a fire that’s ripping the nation apart.”
Changing Allegiances
Lawrence has admitted freely about supporting right and leftwing presidential nominees over the years. Raised by a right-leaning family in her home state, she supported the Republican nominee in 2008 prior to switching to the left-leaning politics and stating she understood during the Obama era that voting Republican was opposing her own rights as a female citizen.

Several years ago, she stated that Trump winning the presidency might signal “a disaster” and endorsed the Democratic candidate in the 2020 election. More recently, she lent her support to Kamala Harris, “since I believe she’s an excellent choice and I know that she will take all necessary steps to defend reproductive rights.”

Lawrence was joined by most of Hollywood in her disapproval of Trump as a candidate for re-election, but the minimal impact stars have over the voting intentions was emphasized by the outcome.
“The second term seems distinct,” commented the actress regarding his administration. “As he made his plans clear. We knew what he did for the previous administration. He was transparent. And that’s the option selected.”
New Release
Jennifer Lawrence is highlighting her new film, director Lynne Ramsay’s drama in which she portrays a new mother who struggles with her emotional state in a remote area. During a media event for the project in Venice, the star commented on the conflict in Gaza: “I feel fear. It’s devastating. What’s taking place is equivalent to a humanitarian crisis and it’s horrible.”
Broader Concerns
She continued by saying that she was disappointed by “the hostility in the discourse of the political landscape currently and how that is going to be normalised to the kids right now. It’s going to be normal to them that elected officials deceive.”
The actor attempted to refocus anger about the situation to policymakers rather than entertainers. “Keep attention on who is responsible,” she said, which was interpreted as a allusion to the declaration supported by numerous arts community members to boycott certain cultural organizations.
Relatable Experiences
Jennifer Lawrence, who earned critical acclaim early in her career for her performance in the acclaimed film, is generating Oscar buzz for her portrayal in the new film. Even though the director has disputed the plot being interpreted as one of post-birth struggles and mental illness, she shared that she connected with parts of her film narrative after the arrival of her second son, not long after production wrapped.
“I felt anxiety for my son,” she commented, “just picturing every worst-case scenario, and then second-guessing everything that I was doing. I was already in therapy, but I got on a drug called Zurzuvae and I used it for a short period and it made a difference.”
Film Challenges
The actor also spoke about the empowering aspect of filming without clothes in the film while she was some months pregnant and couldn’t work out.
“It feels nice,” she said, regarding the need to abandon insecurities. “I mean, I do have moments where I’m like, What separates me between my work and that profession? But it doesn’t trouble me deeply.”
