Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent action-packed title that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for celebrating chaos and mayhem with similar glee, all while weaving gripping, politically driven stories. Little surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two visionaries whose work have represented all of those things.
About the Series
Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game series, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' structure by introducing a new setting and group of personalities in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we do not know what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team always encourages me with their steady belief and assistance.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every instalment is a variation of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can evolve from season to season, while always exploring the core of people through this multifaceted and turbulent lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to partner with Rob and present our common unconventional, ambitious style to the screen.”
A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
