Homages Continue for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the duo.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt prepared to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can finally express my sorrow into words," shared Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started spending more time together I realized this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the film, commenting that he cannot recall "any day without mirth".
"The film is about affection, allegiance and giving. Values that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes continued.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade
In a different tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to bar the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A legal directive issued a restriction on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" pertaining to the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the result of murder, with a official listing noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
